Toronto’s vaccination push now has the city’s northwest in its crosshairs.

Entitled Vax the Northwes t, the new push will allow up to 1,000 northwest residents to get their COVID-19 shot.

“The Vax the Northwest t eam will offer the ‘grand slam’ of vaccination opportunities, with first, second, third and kids’ doses all available on that day at that time,” said Mayor John Tory at a Wednesday morning press conference.

The move is an effort to bolster vaccination rates in areas of the city with reportedly low uptake — neighbourhoods like Black Creek, Westminster Branson and Glenfield Jane Heights, the city reports, are below the municipal 87% vaccination rate of residents above the age of 12.

The one-day clinic will take place on Sunday, Jan. 23 at the Aviva Centre at York University from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

More information on booking an appointment will be provided in the coming days.
