Citing both staffing and ridership challenges, Brampton Transit is dropping a number of weekday and weekend routes from its schedule.

The changes, effective next Monday, will see the outright cancellation of three Züm routes — 501A/C Queen, 511C Steeles to Sheridan College and 561 Queen West  — as well as 12 local routes, three express routes, and the 200-217 School Specials.

Saturday service is cancelled on the 17 Howden, 19 Fernforest, 12 Grenoble and 16 Southgate routes, the latter two also seeing the end of evening buses.

Evening service will also be cancelled along the 26 Mount Pleasant route.

Reductions are also being levied across most routes. Brampton Transit is promising to reverse the cuts once ridership and resources improve.
