Cops say the hospital had conducted a quality control audit which alerted staff to the thefts, and on Dec. 10 police started an investigation.

Investigators determined that the dispensary had been accessed several times between Aug. 17 and Dec. 9 last year without a physician’s written order.

Jenna Whitfield, 35, of Hagersville, has been charged with theft under $5,000 and criminal breach of trust. Whitfield was released on an undertaking and is to appear in court on Feb. 22.

Police said that as this is a current investigation, they wouldn’t get into the particulars of what position Whitfield held at the hospital and what specifically was taken from the dispensary.
