Man, 38, struck by vehicle and killed in Mississauga, 13-year-old son critically injured

A 38-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a vehicle on New Year’s Eve in Mississauga.

The man’s 13-year-old son, who was also struck, is fighting for his life.

Peel Regional Police say the fatality happened at Kennedy Rd. and Courtney Park Dr. just after 6 p.m. on Friday.

The father was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead while his son was taken to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

The vehicle’s driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.

Const. Mandeep Khatra told CP24 the two pedestrians were crossing Kennedy Rd. when they were struck.

“It is very unfortunate and no one wants to be involved in a situation like this,” he said.

Any witnesses are urged to contact the Major Collision Bureau or Crime Stoppers anonymously.
