Man, 35, dies one week after Mississauga hit-and-run

A suspect is sought for a hit-and-run in Mississauga that has now resulted in the death of a 35-year-old man.

Peel Regional Police the victim was hit by a vehicle in front of a gas station on Dundas St. E. — just west of Dixie Rd. around 9:15 p.m. on Dec. 17.

The victim was crossing mid-block from the north side of Dundas to the south side when he was struck by a vehicle travelling east on Dundas in the curb lane, police said. The driver of this vehicle left the scene without stopping or rendering any assistance to the victim.

Police said the victim, who was transported to a trauma centre in life-threatening condition, died a week later in hospital — on Christmas Eve.

Investigators have identified the suspect vehicle as a dark-coloured 2008-2012 Ford Escape that may have front-end damage as a result of the collision.

Police are encouraging the driver to consult with a lawyer and surrender to police.
