Biden, the American president, told ABC Wednesday the chances of him running for re-election in 2024 would increase if Trump, the man he succeeded, won the Republican nomination.

Biden told ABC’s David Muir that he plans to run for re-election and will leave it up to “fate” and his “health.”

Biden, 79, is the oldest person to be elected U.S. president.

Trump formerly held that distinction, being elected at age 70. Trump is now 75.

Biden said he’s a “great respecter of fate” and explained, “If I’m in the health I’m in now — I’m in good health — then, in fact, I would run again.”

He said, “Sure, why would I not run against Donald Trump if he were the nominee? That would increase the prospect of running.”
