Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie tests positive for COVID

Mississauga Mayor Bonnie Crombie revealed on Christmas Eve that she has COVID-19.

“I’ve unfortunately tested positive for #COVID19 ,” Crombie confirmed Friday in a post on Twitter. “I’m isolating at home and continue to follow public health guidelines.”

“My symptoms are thankfully mild, which is a reminder of the importance of getting vaccinated, if you haven’t been yet,” she said, adding, “Stay safe and stay healthy #Mississauga.

Crombie remains in good spirits and encouraged everyone to get vaccinated in order protect against the rapidly-spreading Omicron variant.

Ontario reported a whopping 9,571 new COVID cases on Friday, smashing the province’s record-high of 5,790 set just one day earlier.

Crombie said she’s “incredibly thankful for all the healthcare workers across Mississauga who are once again stepping up to the plate to get boosters into arms.”

“We owe them our endless gratitude,” she said.
