LCBO says shop early and shop often due to supply chain issues

The LCBO is advising people to shop early to ensure they can get their holiday spirits.

The reason being global supply issues which are affecting the international beverage alcohol industry and LCBO’s supply chain.

There are transportation issues and congestion in ports. There is currently a three week delay in container ships leading to LCBO stock shortages.

COVID-19 has also  increased consumer demand at the LCBO.

“While our intention is always to keep the retail and wholesale customer experience as uninterrupted as possible, we are particularly mindful of the potential impact to imported and popular products across categories, including on some champagnes and sparkling sets, New world wines  – New Zealand, Australia, South America — import spirits particularly tequila and scotch, and international beer and cider,” said  Nick Nanos, chief supply chain officer at the LCBO.

“Some of these global supply chain issues are expected to continue into the next year, so we remain committed to working closely with our international supply chain partners and suppliers to stay informed and plan accordingly to ensure that our position remains strong.”

Nanos says customers should shop early and they should be able to get what they want or something very close to it.
