Horny heavyweight Mike Tyson “needed to have sex” before big bouts because he had so much adrenaline he feared he’d kill his opponent.

That from former Tyson bodyguard and chauffeur Rudy Gonzalez, who revealed the champ’s sex secrets in an interview with the U.K. Sun.

“One of the greatest secrets with Mike was that he needed to have sex in the dressing room before fights,” Gonzalez said of the now 55-year-old.

“He had to get laid to disengage some of the strength he had. So I had girls tucked away in bathrooms and changing rooms.”

And there was a good reason, Gonzalez added.

“Mike would say, ‘If I do not get laid, I will kill this guy right now.’ Sometimes he’d go in with them (the women) for a minute … snap his neck and say: ‘OK, this guy is going to live tonight.’ ”

Gonzalez said: “His biggest fear was that he would kill someone in that ring. He knew he could do it. It is no exaggeration to say Mike was like a train hitting these guys. Having sex was his way of disengaging that power and loosening up a bit.”

Tyson grew up tough on the violent streets of Brownsville in Brooklyn.

Gonzalez said the Champ’s emotions would reach fever pitch before a fight and sometimes he would burst into tears before emerging from his dressing room.

“He had an anxiety problem where he would be in despair with anxiety of not feeling good enough or not wanting to screw it up,” Gonzalez said.

“Mike had the fear that if he screwed this up, he would end up back in his old neighbourhood or be locked up.”

We apologize, but this video has failed to load.

Tyson ruled the heavyweight division like a colossus from 1987 to 1990, destroying every fighter that had the guts to battle him in the ring. But after his controversial rape conviction in 1992, he was never the same and retired in 2005.

But there are second acts in American life, and Tyson emerged as a changed man, even making a memorable cameo in 2009 comedy The Hangover. His podcast, Hot Boxin’, is a hit and he has also become a cannabis entrepreneur.
