It was only a matter of time before an academic took umbrage at the word “pedophile”.

One nutty professor is calling for “pedophile” to be ditched in favour of … wait for it… “Minor Attracted Persons”.

Use the acronym MAP.

Transgender prof Allyn Walker — who teaches sociology and criminal justice as a tenure-track assistant professor at Old Dominion University in Virginia — wants to destigmatize pedophilia.

Now, Walker has penned a book — nay, a homage — called A Long Dark Shadow: Minor-Attracted People and Their Pursuit of Dignity .

Walker made their views known in an interview with the Prostasia Foundation — a child advocacy group promoting child sex doll usage for pedophiles.

“A lot of people when they hear the term ‘pedophile’, and they automatically assume that it means a sex offender, and that isn’t true,” the egghead opines. “And it leads to a lot of misconceptions about attractions toward minors.”

They added: “From my perspective, there is no morality or immorality attached to attraction to anyone because no one can control who they’re attracted to at all. In other words, it’s not who we’re attracted to that’s either OK or not OK. It’s our behaviors in responding to that attraction that are either OK or not OK.”

But even among the armies of woke university students, Walker’s opinions may be a bridge too far.

According to the Daily Mail, thousands have signed a petition demanding Walker be kicked to the curb, describing their views as “gross” and “weird.”

They have now deleted their Twitter account. For its part, the university rejected calls to fire Walker but (cautiously) added it “does not endorse or promote crimes against children.”

But petition signer Kimberly Rice had a bit more moral clarity: “Pedophiles do not deserve sympathy or a platform of any sort. Giving them the opportunity to be seen and heard will only put more children in danger. This person does not deserve to teach if this is their ideals.”

We apologize, but this video has failed to load.

The Mail reports that Walker later tried to backtrack and claim that child sex abuse is “never, ever OK”.

However, “we have a tendency to want to categorize people with these attractions as evil or morally corrupt. But when we’re talking about non-offending MAPs, these are people who have an attraction they didn’t ask for. So, their behaviors are moral. But they’re still being subjected to this same idea that they’re bad people and they’ve often internalized that for themselves.”

And this: “Among some groups of predisposed individuals, easy access to a wide variety of engrossing and high-quality child pornography could serve as a substitute for involvement with actual victims.”
