Duo accused of assaulting, robbing elderly man in North York

A man and woman face charges after an 89-year-old man was attacked and robbed in broad daylight in North York.

Toronto Police say officers responded to the robbery near Jane St. and Wilson Ave. around 9:40 a.m. on Monday.

The elderly man was walking in the area when he was approached by a man and a woman, cops said Wednesday, explaining the senior was shoved by the woman.

While the victim was stunned from the assault, police said the assailants rummaged through his pockets, then fled with his personal items.

Tyler Cardwell, 29, of no fixed address, was arrested Monday and charged with robbery.

The following day, Jonel Vieira, 34, of no fixed address, was arrested and charged with robbery, being unlawfully in a dwelling, and failure to comply with a probation order.
