Two Brampton men have been arrested and charged in a brazen carjacking in Mississauga.
According to cops, on Friday around 5 p.m. a female victim attended a fast food joint in the area of Brayden Blvd. and Airport Rd. When she left the outlet two suspects approached her vehicle and a struggle ensued. Good Samaritans on the scene rescued her young child from the vehicle before the alleged carjackers fled. She was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and her child wasn’t harmed.
Two suspects were later located with the stolen vehicle near Derry Rd. E. and Rexwood Rd. in Mississauga. Hamza Sajid, 18, is charged with robbery, assault, four counts of breach of recognizance and possession of a controlled substance. Mehkash Sohal, 19, is also charged with robbery, assault, breach of probation and possession of a controlled substance. Sohal is also charged in connection with an April carjacking.
MAN SUFFERS LIFE-ALTERING INJURIES IN HAMILTON BLAST
A 33-year-old man suffered life-altering injuries after an explosion at a home in Stoney Creek. Hamilton Police said that on Saturday around 7:41 p.m., officers were called to a residence on Frances St. for reports of a blast. The victim was taken to hospital and is in critical but stable condition.
So far it isn’t known what caused the explosion and there was minimal damage to the home. Police were holding the scene throughout the day. The Ontario Fire Marshall and Divisional Detectives are investigating. Anyone with information is encouraged to call 905-546-2963.
