Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney — the movie-star owners of a Welsh soccer team — were spotted watching their Wrexham Red Dragons for the first time since buying the team.

They didn’t bring any luck, however, as Wrexham dropped a 3-2 decision to host Maidenhead United in the National League clash in the U.K.

Canadian Reynolds and McElhenney bought the club in February after a unanimous supporters’ vote rubber-stamped the takeover of the club from Wrexham Supporters Trust.

Reynolds — of Deadpool fame — and McElhenney — the mastermind behind It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia — immediately started throwing cash at the club after finalizing the purchase, injecting $2-million Euros upon completion of the sale.

Tuesday’s fixture marked the first time they have been spotted watching their side in person.

Fans were kept in check during the game with security detail providing space for the A-list celebs, but supporters shared pictures of the famous duo.

“It’ is a special day for the two of us to become the latest stewards in the long and storied history of Wrexham AFC,” the actors said in a statement back in February when they acquired the team. “Together with the players, the staff, the fans and the local community, we can now pursue our goal to grow the team and return it to the EFL in front of increased attendances, and in an improved stadium, while making a positive difference to the wider community in Wrexham.”

The soccer sighting comes just days after Reynolds announced he was taking a “sabbatical” from Hollywood after shooting a string of projects, including an upcoming A Christmas Carol movie alongside Will Ferrell.

Wrexham entered the match against Maidenhead 11th in the National League, six places above their opponents.
