On Oct. 3 at about 1:30 a.m., Toronto Police say a grey Nissan was travelling eastbound, as was a white 2015 Audi R8 “at a high rate of speed.”

The Audi struck the rear of the Nissan, pushing it into the median guard rail near Islington Ave., causing it to flip.

A 58-year-old woman in the Nissan was trapped and later died in hospital. The 61-year-old driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Cops say the driver of the Audi fled on foot.

Several people stopped to provide help and some had video of the crash.

Police had identified Kalyan Trivedi, 31, of Toronto, as a person of interest and had requested he contact them.

On Thursday, Trivedi was arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death, dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm, leave the scene of an accident, and leave the scene of an accident causing bodily harm.

Police are interested in learning what Trivedi was doing in the hours leading up to the collision.
