York Regional Police say officers responded to a home on North Park Rd. — near Bathurst and Centre Sts. — around 8 a.m. on May 6 after a 911 caller reported finding his girlfriend not breathing.

“When officers arrived, they located a 19-year-old woman who was pronounced deceased at the scene,” Const. Laura Nicolle said Wednesday.

“After the post-mortem examination conducted by the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service the death was determined to have been a homicide,” she explained.

The woman’s boyfriend was arrested on Oct. 13.

Raphael Banon, 20, of Vaughan, is charged with second-degree murder.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is urged to call the Homicide Unit at 1-866-876-5423, ext. 7865, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
