4 suspects charged in daylight attacks that killed 2 teens in Hamilton

Four suspects have been charged in connection with two daylight attacks that killed two teens and injured others in Hamilton.

Police say the first incident took place around 7:30 p.m. on Aug. 6, at the back of a business.

They say suspects opened fire at a group, killing 17-year-old Keden Bond and injuring two others, one of them to a life-altering degree.

Investigators say the second attack occurred in a parking lot the afternoon of Sept. 14.

They say a lone suspect fatally shot 19-year-old Sabir Omer. A second person was not injured.

Police say a search conducted Thursday led to the arrests of four suspects between the ages of 17 and 19.

A 19-year-old man from Halton Region is charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder in both attacks, as well as weapons and drug trafficking offences.

A 17-year-old boy from Halton Region is charged with first-degree murder in Omer’s death, and also faces firearms and drug trafficking charges.

An 18-year-old man and a 19-year-old man, both from Hamilton, are each charged with first-degree murder and attempted murder in the September attack.

“These two daylight shootings occurred in high pedestrian and traffic areas with no concern for public safety,” police said in a statement.

“During the investigation, detectives were able to draw a link between the two homicides and investigators believe a number of individuals were involved with executing the murder of Sabir Omer.”

Police say a 17-year-old boy and a 19-year-old woman are also facing firearms and drug charges following Thursday’s search.
