Toronto cops identify suspect in downtown stabbing

Police have identified a suspect wanted in connection with a stabbing investigation in downtown Toronto in the wee hours of last Sunday.

Mohamud Amir, 27, of Toronto, is wanted for assault, aggravated assault, assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and fail to comply-release order.

Toronto Police responded to a call for a stabbing in the area of Yonge St. and Front St. at 1:30 a.m. It’s reported that a man approached a group of people and proceeded to stab a man.

The suspect fled eastbound on Front St. E. and then, possibly, north onto Scott St.

The victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police say if located, the suspect should not be approached and 911 should be called immediately.
