And the manner of death is confirmed as a homicide.

In a news conference Tuesday afternoon, Dr. Blue announced the cause and manner of the young victim’s death, explaining that the laws in Wyoming prevent him from offering much more information.

Asked for a time of death, Blue said her body had been in the wilderness for three or four weeks before it was discovered on Sept. 19  in Bridger-Teton National Forest in Wyoming.

He confirmed she was not pregnant and said DNA samples had been taken from her body.

It took a month for autopsy results, Blue stated, because, “We were very exacting in our examination and we were waiting for various specialists to come in and help us.

“We were waiting on toxicology and it was a matter of making sure we had everything right.”

He explained that he could not comment on whether or not Petito’s finance, Brian Laundrie, had been confirmed as the prime subject, noting that only law enforcement could comment on those matters.

However, Blue did make a reference to “domestic violence” later in the conference.

Wyoming law was again cited as the reason no details would be forthcoming on what tell-tale signs of strangulation — bruising, hyoid bone fracture, or the like — could be revealed.

Gabby Petito, 22 and her fiancé, Brian Laundrie, 23, were on a road trip through the U.S. and documenting their journey on social media.

Laundrie returned to Florida to his parent’s house, where he and Petito had lived together, without her. She was reported missing on Sept. 11.

Despite her parents’ pleas, neither Laundrie nor his parents would answer questions about Petito’s whereabouts. There were two eyewitness reports of the couple fighting (on Aug. 12 and Aug. 27) while they were on their road trip.

Laundrie vanished from his parents’ home soon after Petito was reported missing; he was being watched by police in North Port, Fla. but slipped away.

His parents said he had left home to hike the Carlton Reserve on Sept. 14, although a week ago the Laundrie family lawyer said it was probably Sept. 13 when he left to go hiking.

He did not take his wallet or cell phone with him. A massive manhunt was undertaken for Laundrie but he has still not been located.

On Sept. 20 the FBI searched the Laundrie home and removed a car and a number of personal items.
