Jennifer Gutertin was handed a 48-month term on Sept. 29 for defrauding the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) to the tune of $2.4 million while acting as the organization’s financial director.

Detectives with the York Regional Police financial crimes unit began investigating the missing money in November 2018.

Guertin, who had been associated with the OMHA for 17 years, pilfered the funds during a six-month period.

She was fired shortly after the investigation began, and was arrested in June 2019 after police executed a search warrant at her home.

She pleaded guilty in March 2020.

The OMHA is Ontario’s governing body for minor hockey, overseeing over 300,000 members across 230 organizations.
