After playing the lottery for three decades, Joyce Martin has scored a win worth $250,000 playing Instant Crossword.
The personal care worker from Burlington at first thought she had won $25,000 when she played her ticket at home.
“I didn’t want to wake my husband, so I put my raincoat on over my pajamas and went to the store to validate the ticket,” she said.
Her first call was to her children.
“They wanted me to Facetime them when I told my husband. He was worried and thought something was wrong at first. We all had tears in our eyes,” Martin said.
“I will share with my children and save for retirement. This is a dream come true. I’ve been playing the lottery for over 30 years and Instant Crossword has always been my favourite.”
