The violence hit Regent Park on Saturday night.

Toronto Police reported that officers were called to Oak and Sumach St. shortly before 9 p.m.

When they arrived, officers found three men in their 20s suffering gunshot wounds. Detectives have determined the trio was cut down by four gunmen who suddenly opened fire.

One of the victims — identified later Sunday as Thane Murray, 27, of Toronto — was pronounced dead at the scene. Another man, age 29, was in critical condition after taking a bullet in the torso but is now in stable condition, while the third victim, age 27, was in non-life-threatening condition with a wound to the lower body.

“What I can tell you so far is it appears that four people dressed in dark clothing approached on foot, and all four of them apparently opened fire on these three men,” Williams told CP24.

Around 50 shell casings were found by investigators at the scene.

Williams added: “It’s a highly-populated area. There’s a playground just to the south of us. It was still 8:50 (p.m.) when this took place, so probably lots of people around — very, very dangerous.”

The latest mayhem comes in the wake of two murders Friday night: One in Mississauga, the other in Scarborough.

In Mississauga’s Malton area, a 21-year-old Brampton man was shot to death and another man was wounded in a brouhaha between two groups at a large party. Jastaran Sandhu, an 18-year-old man from Mississauga, was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree murder.

Across the city in Scarborough Junction, O’Neal Oppong Gyeabour, 21, of Toronto, was shot and killed late Friday in the Danforth Rd.-Midland Ave. area. Another man is in hospital with injuries from the same incident.
