Suspect sought in elevator sex assault

A 24-year-old Toronto man is accused of sexually assaulting a 40-year-old woman in an elevator in East York on Sunday morning.

Toronto Police responded to a call for a sex assault at 43 Thorncliffe Park Dr. at 10:54 a.m.

According to the allegations, a woman got on the elevator with an unknown man and, when the elevator closed, he exposed himself to her.

When the woman tried to leave the elevator, the man pulled her back in and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the building, police alleged.

David Simonic, of Toronto, is wanted for sexual assault and forcible confinement.

He is described as 5-foot-8, 155 pounds, with brown hair and a trimmed beard. He was last seen wearing a dark Adidas track top with a zipper, a gold necklace, grey track pants, and white runners.

Police cautioned the suspect is believed to be violent and dangerous and not be approached. Investigators urge anyone with information to call 416-808-5300, or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS.
