Woman dies, man suffers critical injuries in motorcycle crash

A motorcycle crash left a woman dead and a man in critical condition early Sunday.

The crash happened in the northbound lanes of Hwy. 27, near Hwy. 407.

The female passenger of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-vehicle collision, according to the OPP. The driver, a 41-year-old man, was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Police say speed was a factor.

A 61-year-old motorist, meanwhile, died in hospital Sunday after a single-vehicle collision in Etobicoke.

Toronto Police said the man was driving a 2009 Hyundai Elantra at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, when he lost control and hit a tree and poll on Lloyd Manor Rd. — in the Kipling-Eglinton Aves. area.

The man was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries following the crash. He later died.
