Pedestrian struck and killed by train in Milton

A woman is dead after being struck by a train in Milton early Saturday morning.

Halton Police responded to a 911 call at around 1:30 a.m. with reports that a pedestrian was struck by a freight train near Bronte Rd N. and Steeles Ave.

First responders confirmed that a 42-year-old Oakville woman had been fatally struck by a westbound train.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit was at the scene and took over the investigation. CP Police was also on scene.

In a statement, Halton Police said the identity of the pedestrian will not be released.
