Man charged with assault after racially-motivated incident at Stanley Park

Toronto police have charged a man in connection with an assault after a racially-motivated incident at Stanley Park.

Police were called to the park on King Street West near Niagara Street around 8 a.m. on Tuesday.

It was reported to police that a man with a swastika tattoo on his chest was yelling racial slurs towards another person.

Police later learned that the person who initially reported the incident was also assaulted by the suspect. Police said he threw a marker.

Michael Park, 32, of Toronto, has been charged with assault with a weapon.

Officers also issued him the following provincial offences tickets:

  • Interfere with use and enjoyment of park by others (Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 608)
  • Use profane/abusive language in park (Toronto Municipal Code Chapter 608)
