Retired Hamilton teacher, baseball coach charged with historical sex assaults

Hamilton Police have arrested a former teacher after an investigation into two separate alleged historical sexual assaults.

On June 30, police arrested John Douglas Hashimoto, 57, of Hamilton, and charged him with two counts of sexual assault and two counts of sexual interference.

Hashimoto is a retired schoolteacher with the Hamilton-Wentworth District School Board, and worked between 1987 to 2019, police say.

He is also a former youth baseball coach in Hamilton.

Police say that there may be additional alleged victims and ask anyone with information to call them at 905-540-5543 or Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477.
