Hunt on for knife-wielding man accused of chasing woman in North York

Police say a woman was chased by a man with a knife on Sunday morning in North York.

Toronto Police say at about 10:30 a.m., officers responded to a call for a person with a knife in the area of Yonge St. and Sheppard Ave. E.

It was reported that a 37-year-old woman was walking on Doris Ave. when she passed a man who removed a knife from his pants, at which time police say the man began to chase the woman. The woman was able to flag down a passing motorist for help and police say the man was last seen walking towards Forrest Laneway.

The suspect is described as 25 to 30 years old, with short dark hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt with lettering on the front, a dark hooded sweater, dark pants with a rip on the right side, and dark shoes.

Police have released images of the suspect wanted for assault with a weapon.
