The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating after a 22-year-old man died following an interaction with police in Brampton.
Peel police were called to the Charolais Boulevard and McMurchy Avenue South area at around 4:10 p.m. Thursday for reports of sounds of gunshots inside a residential building.
When officers arrived on scene, there was an interaction between a man and police. According to the SIU, the man went into medical distress.
He was taken to hospital in life-threatening condition and died of his injuries at 3 p.m. on Friday.
No further details about the incident have been released at this time.
The SIU is an arms-length provincial agency that investigates reports of death, injury, sexual assault or the discharge of a firearm involving a police officer.
