Two officers were treated in hospital after a Tuesday night take-down by the Gun and Gang Task Force led to a struggle with a suspect.

The officers were preparing to carry out a search warrant just after 11:45 p.m. when police say they spotted the suspect entering a building near Lawrence Ave. E. and Scarborough Golf Club Rd.

As police moved in, the suspect allegedly attacked them with a glass bottle while struggling with the officers.

Police say as they took the man into custody, they found a loaded 9mm handgun on him.

Kadah Dematas, 22, of Toronto, faces a number of firearms charges, as well as four counts of possession of the purpose.

He appeared in Old City Hall court on Wednesday.
