New laws cracking down on stunt driving kick in Canada Day

Excessive speeders can now have their vehicles immediately impounded for two weeks

New provincial laws aimed at making roads safer are now in place.

Starting July 1, the OPP have stricter laws for people who pull a donut or speed while driving.

“Ontario is taking action against stunt driving with the introduction of the Moving Ontario More Safety Act, also known as the MOMS Act,” police said in a statement released Thursday.

Police can now increase the previous immediate roadside seven-day vehicle impoundment period to 14 days.
