A Mississauga man had to call his kids to verify his Lotto Max ticket was a $500,000 winner.

Andy Gordon, 54, was working in the yard when he decided to take a break and check his ticket for the June 15 draw.

“I saw the ‘Big Winner’ screen and I was in disbelief,” he said. “My brain and my heart were dreaming big at what this could mean for my family.”

Gordon called his kids to double check.

“We were all speechless and shocked,” he said. “Telling my wife that we won was one of the happiest moments we’ve shared.”

Gordon shared the $1 million prize in Max Millions with another winner who had the same number.
