A Markham man almost fainted after winning $1 million in a LOTTO 6/49 draw.

Ian Critchley, who won his prize in the June 9 draw, says he has been playing the lottery for years.

“I play regular numbers comprised of birthdays and special dates,” he said.

The manufacturing supervisor didn’t buy his ticket at his usual store.

“I was on my way home from work and I didn’t want to miss the draw,” he said.

“I thought I won a Free Play and didn’t notice the guaranteed prize draw at first. It was a complete surprise when I checked my ticket and saw I won $1 million. I almost passed out!”

Critchley says the win feels surreal.

“I am going to do some good things with this win.”
