Toronto piano teacher accused of child sexual assault

A 62-year-old piano teacher from Toronto is accused of a historic sex assault against a child.

York Regional Police say an investigation was launched in May 2021 into a private music teacher after officers received information regarding an alleged sexual assault victim.

Through the investigation, officers say they learned a girl was allegedly sexually assaulted during private piano lessons at the teacher’s residence between 2015 and 2017, beginning when she was about 12 years old.

The accused, Wing-Ki Lau, of Toronto, has been teaching music lessons in his home for many years, according to police, and investigators are concerned about the possibility of other alleged victims.

Lau, who goes by the name ‘Ricky’, was arrested Thursday and charged with sexual assault, sexual interference with a person under 16, and invitation to sexual touching with a person under 16.
