Cops release video of Mississauga arson in hunt for firebug

Peel Regional Police are on the hunt for a firebug and are seeking the public’s help to nab him.

On March 28 at about 4:40 a.m., police were called to a fire at a business in the Hurontario and Dundas Sts. area of Mississauga.

Cops say an accelerant had been thrown at the building, resulting in an explosion that caused extensive damage to the unit and its neighbours.

Mississauga Fire put the blaze out, and there were no injuries.

Cops on Thursday released video of the arson and of the suspect.

In the first piece of footage, a man can be seen walking on the sidewalk. In the second, he is seen igniting what appears to be a Molotov cocktail before the third angle shows the resulting explosion.

The final video shows the suspect jumping over a small fence and falling on the ground.

Police are asking the public to check their dashcam and/or surveillance footage from 3-7 a.m. on March 28.
