Firefighters are investigating after a five-alarm fire destroyed an Etobicoke bakery late Tuesday night.

Emergency personnel arrived on scene of a business at Bering Avenue and Judge Road shortly before 10 p.m. for a fire believed to have been started in an oven, 680 News reported.

It’s believed the fire spread quickly with smoke and flames consuming the building, including through the roof.

High winds that blew overnight further fuelled the flames and aerial ladders were called to help bring the blaze under control, CP24 reported.

The building has collapsed, a fire official told 680 News. Crews remain on the scene to deal with hotspots in the bakery.

There were no reported injuries and as a precaution, gas and hydro have been turned off in the building.
