Brampton LTC nurse charged with withholding drugs

Police in Peel Region have charges a nurse at a Brampton long-term care home after an investigation into residents not receiving their prescribed medication.

The investigation began earlier this month after management of Holland Christian Homes, near McLaughlin Rd. S. and Steeles Ave. W. received complaints about residents not receiving medications prescribed by physicians.

Peel police say a subsequent investigation uncovered 11 victims at the home, all with varying levels of cognitive ability.

All those affected have been medically assessed and their family notified.

Fifty-nine year old Angeline Richardson-McKenzie of Brampton was arrested Friday, charged with 11 counts of failing to provide the necessities of life.

The Sun has contacted Holland Christian Homes for comment.
