Peel Region’s seventh murder victim of the year is a 22-year-old woman who was found shot to death late Wednesday.

Responding to gunshots in the area of Ninth Line and Burnhamthorpe Rd. in Mississauga, Peel Regional Police officers discovered this was not just a shooting scene but a homicide.

The victim, identified as Marissa Radstake, was found with “obvious signs of trauma” in a parking lot across the street from 3445 Ninth Line around 11:40 p.m.

The Walkerton woman was pronounced dead on the scene.

Police say they have no update on potential suspects.

This shooting comes on the heels of Peel’s arrest of three men involved in the May 29th shooting homicide of Naim Akl at the Chickenland takeout restaurant just two kilometres to the east where five people were shot — one of them fatally.

But at this time it is not believed to be related.

Police are extremely concerned about the gunplay and violence in Mississauga, as are the residents.

“This was a horrific act of violence which resulted in loss of life and serious injury to the surviving victims,” Chief Nishan Duraiappah said in a news release. “These incidents shatter community safety and will be responded to accordingly with a commitment to bring those responsible to justice while protecting the public.”
